UT3 - High CPU load on dual core cpus

Post  [CBS]KillYa! on Tue Sep 07, 2010 9:20 am

If you have trouble with permanent 100% cpu load of both cores in UT3 game modify your UT3 shortcut as shown below:

"D:\Games\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\UT3.exe" -onethread

The CPU load should be normal now again.

If you play UT3 and got a permanent cpu load around 100% of your dual core cpu you should apply this to your shortcut of UT3.

Just edit it, and add the "-onethread" without " " to it.

No problem ^^

I guess you are able to start UT3 somehow ^^
If you start it on a windows operation system machine, you probably do that by clicking on a link.

1. close the UT3 game
2. right click on the link you start UT3 with
3. select properties
4. go to the end of the line of path where UT3.exe is shown
5. add -onethread to the line at the end without removing anything else.

You should have anything like c:\Program Files or c:\games.... \Binaries\UT3.exe" -onethread
(Do NOT remove the " at the end of UT3.exe and place a space between UT3.exe" and -onethread

6. press ok to save your changes, start the game and check if cpu load is better now ^^

:-p

What is your hardware specification and game setting? I tried it, too, but didn't recognice any difference, Arena23 is as jerky as before (barely 30 fps). However, I'm working with 1920x1080, 4xAA and all in-game settings on high, using an Athlon X2 250 together with a GTS 250.
