Teamspeak 3 - Overlay plugin configuration
Hello guys,
I want to introduce the TS3 overlay plugin to you.
1. what is it?
If you use Teamspeak 3 and wonder often who is talking right now, you should use this plugin that comes with TS3 per default.
The following picture shows the overlay, that is created by the plugin (without the red square)

2. How to activate it.
Open TS3, go to settings, plugins and activate TeamSpeak 3 Overlay plugin
3. Short way Configuration
Search for a file called "config_user.ini" in your Userprofile\Appdata\Roaming\ts3overlay
Wait - what???
Ok.. On your Windows compatible keyboard press the key with the windows symbol AND the R together
Type %Userprofile% and press enter
now you can see and open the folders "Appdata\Roaming\ts3overlay" and will find the "config_user.ini" there.
Open the config_user.ini with double click and search for the responding .exe file you want to change the appearance for
(Example - you want it for UT3, you search for [UT3.EXE] section in the file and replace the content with the lines below.
It should look like this:
[UT3.EXE]
overlay.initialization.width=192
overlay.initialization.xpos=-1
overlay.initialization.ypos=-60
overlay.popup.xpos=-113
overlay.popup.ypos=18
overlay.initialization.height=150
statistics.doesnt_crash_in_version=3.7.8
dll.disable_loading=false
statistics.tried_in_version=3.7.8
overlay.display.titlebar.opacity=10
overlay.initialization.mode=normal
overlay.logo.alpha.min=0
overlay.logo.alpha.max=0
overlay.display.titlebar.visibility=false
For Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare it should look like this:
[iw3mp.exe]
overlay.initialization.width=192
overlay.logo.alpha.min=0
overlay.initialization.height=150
overlay.initialization.ypos=-60
overlay.logo.alpha.max=0
dll.disable_loading=false
overlay.initialization.xpos=-1
overlay.initialization.mode=normal
statistics.tried_in_version=3.7.8
statistics.doesnt_crash_in_version=3.7.8
overlay.display.titlebar.visibility=false
4. Long way Configuration
You can find useful hints here http://ts3overlay.r-dev.de/documentation.php
To get my settings, you have to do the following
- activate the plugin as described unter 2.
- click on settings, Input and define an activation key (I choose F11)
- close the plugins dialog window
- close UT3 if already opened and start it again. (For each change you make to the plugin in TS3 Plugin settings later, you need to restart UT3 in order to see the result!)
- In UT3 press your activation key (F11 for me) now you can move your mouse to control the plugin.
- do a right click on the menu bar, select display and hide Title Bar
- close UT3
- go back to TS3, go to settings, plugins, TeamSpeak 3 Overlay plugin, settings
- select UT3.exe under the profile drop down menu and make the following settings

Overlay initial x & y control the position of the Overlay plugin in UT3. You can play around with the settings as you like
- close the plugins dialog window and restart UT3 to check the results
If you can't find your application (like COD4) in there, go up and take the short way ;-)
